Start your tour at Space Center Houston. Plan to take the tram tour, but be aware the tour is outdoors part of the time and requires some walking. If you are a big fan of space travel considered the VIP tour. For a good orientation, view the short 18 minute introduction film first, then explore the exhibits and hop on the tram tour. Save some time in the afternoon for viewing the movies. This is an excellent destination for all ages. Blast off for fun!

To see the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta's Mass Ascension for free, head for North Domingo Baca Park. The park is a good view spot for families. Kids can play on the soccer fields or playground while watching the balloons launch. The park has picnic tables and restrooms. it takes less than 2 hours to launch hundreds of balloons. If you go, be sure to bring your breakfast, a chair, your binoculars, and a camera.
The Gilman tunnels are located in Jemez Springs, New Mexico near Route 4. The scenic area is perfect for hiking, camping, picnics, waterfalls, warm Springs and Native American history.
The Jesse James home is located in St. Joseph, Missouri and is the site of his assassination. The home is located next to the wonderful Pattee House Museum. Both are highly recommended for learning more about the Civil War and the Old West.
Be sure to stop by the roadside attraction Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas. It is located on exit 62A, just west of the city, on route 66. Bring your spray paint cans or markers to add to the art and leave your mark. |
